Collective: Latin American Photography
Image & Expression
Light, color, technique and creativity. This collective exhibit of photography started yesterday at Arteconsult with the works of eleven Latin American artists with different proposals, concepts and themes.
Carmen Aleman, the gallery’s director, has decided to support all national photographers and invite international artists to exhibit for the first time in Panama, Aleman explains.
“ The local photography market has grown and there are collectors interested in this type of art,” says Aleman.
Some of the international artists are: Sara Modiano, Ronald Moran, Leonidas Correa, Corina Hernandez, Diego Vargas, Carlos Betancourt y Carlos Casas; and in the national area: Luis Franco, Rachelle Mozman (Panama & USA), Sergio Ochoa (Panama & Colombia) and Klaus Lange (Panama & Germany).
Each artist has his own technique, Aleman expresses. Sara Modiano, represents the gelatin silver technique and Ronald Moran exhibits utilitarian pieces; mean while Luis Franco shows a series of nudity.
Sergio Ochoa, Colombian living in Panama, presents his photographs named Clorofila, with leaves’ details.
“It shows the reality without making it completely obvious. The leaves are an infinite world of details.” Ochoa comments that he identifies with nature, and each photograph is a creative and investigation process, because he has dedicated to capture light and texture of leaves for more than three years.
The Nicaraguan living in Costa Rica, Leonidas Correa, iniciated in photography 25 years ago when he took pictures of this paintings.
“The theme that I love is the reflex of metal, water or mirrors,” expresses.
The artist defines photography as “a work of art, an instant to capture the feeling of the moment, playing with the composition and light.”
The exhibit will be open to the public until the 9th of November
